Sharp Objects And Wool Bits
Tue Nov 10 2009

At the knitting retreat, I saw a lot of new things. One of those new things immediately went on my 'to do' list. It's called 'needle felting'.

I ventured forth as soon as I could and bought the simple tools.

Here is my project, worked on a swatch I made using the sample of Spud and Chloe wool and cotton yarn that we were given that came with a kit. I didn't knit up the cupcake, but I absolutely love this yarn.

You use bits of yarn and a barbed needle to poke said yarn into your fabric. Poke, poke, poke.

Pretty soon you have a finished bit of embroidery on your knitting. Here's what it looks like on the back:

Cool eh?

Here is the brush you use under the work:

All my knitted objects are now in peril. Anything hanging around may find itself embellished whether it feels like it or not....

So cool you had to post it twice, eh? *grin* Can't say I quite understand the instructions, but the finished product is seriously neat looking. It would be fun to do a Mondrian-type design using that technique.

    Oh, the possibilities. :)

Curious though......what keeps the brush from roughing up the base knitting?
