Apple Heaven
Thu Nov 12 2009

This is what is on my computer desktop right now.

[album 65561 58_yerkensbig.jpg]

It was painted by Jacek Yerka, and it pretty much sums up my inner world. Surreal. Fantastical. Improbable. Abundant. Tranquil. Not 'normal'.

(Glad you are lucid this morning Cupcake. It's GOOD to admit you are not normal. Opens the door for recovery.)

Ah, but there lies the rub () I hope I never arrive at 'normal'.

Ever.

Anyway, Yerka is without a doubt my favorite artist. May he live long and prosper.

Sometimes, when I have listened to or read an overdose of world news, I need to be reminded there are millions of people on this planet who are doing good and making beauty. Creating and not tearing down. Promoting life and not destroying it. Defending freedom and not trying to strangle it to death.

This picture reminds me.

Come on over, looks like we could have apples in any form you might like to dream up. I'll get the stove going, and put the kettle on. Let's create something warm and wholesome and healing together.

I can't take my eyes off of it.

Did Trooper say something about stories? You write? I'm so scouring your journal now.

If you are coddling any apples, please invite me.

I left my apple coddlers behind with the ex-spouse when I divorced. I've never found any others that measure up. I suppose I could just do them up in pyrex custard cups, but it wouldn't be the same.

This is close the recipe I use (I don't measure, just "wing it"). The big difference is that I made the apples individually, not all together in the same pot.
