Meanwhile In The Garden...
Wed May 26 2010

Yesterday, May 25, 2010 it rained. This may not seem such an odd thing to many of you living elsewhere in the world, but for it to rain HERE at this time of year is extraordinary.

Turns out my garden is thrilled with the cooler temperatures and real rain. Evidently 100 degree temps and full on sun is not required for happy plants.
As a matter of fact, I am very hopeful that the tomatoes will set more fruit this year if we skip the high heat while they are blooming.

Here's the goose planter by my garden mascot plant, the ever faithful... Feverfew.

Those are radishes there in the front of this next picture.... Who knew they would get so big?

These are my wildflowers, and in the back the two artichoke plants. I am so happy with how these are doing this year. I have babied them like crazy, weeding and watering every day. Of course, real rain is the best, and you can just see them reveling in it this morning. I think they all grew two inches last night...

And here are some of my sweet peas. They are just starting to bloom. They have definitely given their seal of approval to the cool Spring weather.

Thank God for gardens. They help keep us sane. We need them now more than ever.

    Beautiful! Lots of TLC there.

Don't you just love getting your fingers into the fresh, sweet soil, planting, and watching the fruit of labors come to fruit?

    Bless

Your garden looks wonderful and I do believe I am a little enveous......not about the rain; we've got plenty of that.

We are cold and near to drowning up here and my poor plants refuse to do anything except shiver in their pots. The weeds seem to be enjoying it though and are as lush as can be.

Oh, how lovely!!! Your garden is breathtaking. Mine is just weeds with a few tomatoes and a jalapeno rising above them, really.

The weather really is backward. Record highs EAST of the Rockies, and record lows to the west. Ah, El Nino, cursed be thy name!

Are the artichoke plants the two thistly-looking things? If so, keep the photographs coming. I've never seen artichokes in their native form, and I'd love to see what one looks like while it's growing and just before it's plucked.
