If It's Not One Thing, It's Another
Wed Oct 13 2010

Okay, Mr. Random Acts of Monkey Wrenches has come to live at our house the past few days...

He's annoying.

But not exactly boring.

Yesterday, Hub Man's motorcycle decided to develop and electrical glitch and he needed to be fetched from the city by the bay. I have never driven there myself. I've been a passenger often enough, but never behind the wheel. So there I was leaving the city by the river at dusk for the two hour drive.

I phoned in prayer requests from Suzie Cube's high tech equipment while on the road. This made things so much more relaxed! It's good to know you have people in high places talking to other people in high places on your behalf when you are whizzing down a 'new to you' highway surrounded by people of very little patience.

I made it just fine thank you very much.

(Oh yeah, don't tell them about the three phone calls you made for reassurance and directions right up until you made visual contact with the Hub Man. . . You coward.)

Hey, there's no use shirking the high tech while it's still working. I'm sure there will be plenty of time for high anxiety when we get to TEOTWAWKI.

(Okay smarty pants, what does that mean?)

The End Of The World As We Know It.

(oh)

So anyway, I'm supposed to be getting ready for the knitting guild retreat today. I have found myself doing things at the last minute, which is not my usual MO, but what can I tell you... Anyway Mr. Random Acts of Monkey Wrenches had our banker call a little while ago to ask if we had signed some papers he sent over last week. I thought I had plenty of time for that, but turns out if I had actually READ the papers I would see that they were supposed to be signed TODAY. OY. Phone call to notary. [She's not available]. Wait. Wait. Wait. Another phone call. [She's on another line.] Wait wait. Call Hub Man to tell him I don't know anything yet. And right now I'm waiting some more.

Modern life.

FULL of MANY possibilities for mayhem from Mr. Monkey Wrenches.

FULL.

But to soothe my rattled nerves, the banker dude called in for an extension of the deadline for me. But they have to be signed by Monday. I would rather do it today.

(Are you packed?)

No.

(Get crackin' then.)

Oh, all right. I'm going to need knitting needles right? And yarn. And chocolate. No problem. Got it covered.

I'll talk to you all after my Lake Tahoe adventure.

I'm going to try real hard to give Mr. Monkey the slip.

(Good luck with that.)

I am VERY proud of you. I'm not sure what I would have done in the same situation. Probably told him to get a room, cause I WON'T drive there. Not at night anyway. Good thing he's married to you and not me.
Oh, I was a praying away, but I will be honest, I was also freaking out for you.
    Let me just say it again;
I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!
