Recovery
Mon Nov 29 2010

What a nice time we had at Thanksgiving! Lots of food and lounging about, resting up from the rigors of modern life.

We played a game on the x box called 'Kinect'. There was bowling and volleyball and one really easy game that I tried. I forget the name of it. I just called it 'the water game'. You are near a fish tank and the fish keep poking holes in it and causing leaks. You are supposed to fix them by 'touching' them. The game has a camera and can see a rudimentary image of you and it does what you do wirelessly. It's pretty fun and you would be surprised how much you move around while playing it!

The puppy was a constant source of chaos entertainment. But he also had his quiet moments.

Sunny has resigned herself to being a surrogate mother.

Here's a different pose...

I got some help in the back yard from the boys and now all my pruning is finished except for the fruit trees which must wait for deep winter anyway. The green waste container is bulging.

There was knitting taking place, and baking from the daughters in law. One knit, and the other baked pumpkin cake [yum]. She also worked her way through The Ladies Home Journal I had tucked away. These were perfect pursuits for cold and rainy weather.

On Friday the girls and I went over to the yarn shop and picked out sock yarn. Everyone is getting hand knit socks for their birthday this year. [So much for the element of surprise.] But they got the colors they wanted. We found some nice alpaca blend that I'm sure will be lovely to work with.

Today I am pleasantly worn out and taking a quiet day to recover from all the excitement.

I love Thanksgiving. Because of the people it brings together.

Those pics are just adorable :)

I love the new games that get you up and moving instead of sitting pushing buttons. Now I dont object so much to the kids playing! We got a wii and I got addicted to playing tennis on it. I have always wanted to play for real but umm... I cant hit a ball to save my life. Yet on the wii I am a pro! Still cant bowl though.

Glad you had a good thanksgiving. Togetherness is what its all about. I wish my family understood this. While we will all be togther again this year for only the second time ever we are doing lunch at the pub instead of everyone pitching in on a meal :( feels wrong.

Sounds perfect.....especially all that playing with yarn. That's my kind of lounging about.

The puppy truly lucked out landing at your place. Sunny is a truly nice dog. :)

That sounds wonderful!!! I'm about to go for some leftover turkey right now, myself.

What an unflappable trooper Sunny is! I can't imagine any dog could take to other dogs like she does-- acting as their mother, their sister or just a pal, whatever is needed at the moment.

My son has the Kinect and I played that game you are talking about. It is a lot of fun! I also did the bowling and the volleyball. They are both great.

Those photos of Sunny and the pup give me the warm fuzzies... sort of like wearing handknit wool socks.

Ahhhh, Sunny girl. Quite a dog she is.

Sounds like you and your peeps had a nice time. I'm so glad you got to see them and feed them and hug them and generally spoil them. Holds us Moms over for a little while. Never long enough or often enough though.
    Hugs.

I love Thanksgiving because of the left-overs! Although I have to admit that the last of the turkey disappeared at lunch when I made my final turkey sandwich of the season.
