Your Left Eye is Tweeting, I mean Twitching
Sun Feb 12 2012

Last night I walked out into the back yard with the dogs while they had their last potty opportunity of the evening, and as I was gazing at the three planets I can see in the sky from our yard, I heard an odd sound. It was coming from the sky directly overhead. I could not identify this sound as I had never heard it before. I looked and looked and didn't see a thing, but the sound was quite clear. I began to question my sanity. (Don't we all?) I kept looking, because the sound was recurring on and off. Finally, I saw… a whitish line in the night sky, moving south. What the HECK is THAT? I was picturing myself on Ancient Aliens, pointing at the sky saying, "It was right up there. It was making this creepy sound I have never heard. It was weird!" Then I heard a completely new sound from a different area of the sky, and saw another whitish line. Well, you can imagine my relief when I realized I was looking at and hearing two Barn Owls calling to each other. If you go here, you can hear what I heard... http://www.owlpages.com/sounds.php Listen under 'Common Barn Owl' and chose these two:  twittering and typical call. Who knew Barn Owls were on Twitter? (YOU are the twit.) I think I have stipulated this fact on more than one occasion. Give it a rest. At least I avoided  making a fool of myself on UFO Hunters. But just barely. Here's the identified flying object….
Wish I could have seen them this close. . .

Those are definitely some odd sounds, particularly that second one. The first sounds kind of like a squeaky pulley. The second sounds like a UFO. I can understand why you thought of Ancient Aliens! Owls are probably the odd birds after which the phrase is named. We have them around here. There is a big screech owl that lives in the little park near me. I hear him take flight, screeching, from the tall pines in the park on a regular basis. I was afraid he might/could/would take Jethro or Ellie when they were little-er. Now, he'd really have to work at it to take either of them, and they are feisty! He'd have a real fight on his hands. Their buddy, Fred, would probably put his feline two-cents worth into that fight, too!
