I put the finishing touches on the little purse yesterday. A snap to keep it closed and a button for decoration.
Don't you think it's funny that the lilacs show up … lilac, but the lavender purse looks blue?
Just sayin'.
Speaking of lilacs….
All around the yard there are lilac bushes. Some white, some lavender. There is even one across the ice pond that is growing in the wild, tangled up with a blackberry and some other bush I can't identify yet.
They are in full bloom right now and at certain times of the day the whole place smells of their wonderful fragrance.
I read up on it and found out you can do a couple of things to try and capture it.
This is one...
Steep the flowers in almond oil for a few weeks.
So I'm trying it.
Looks kinda weird though….
The other was to steep on very low heat, a pot full of the flowers. I tried that yesterday and decided I didn't like it at all. The water turned brownish, and the smell was sort of off. I threw it out.
But the jar with the oil and flowers already smells very nice. I just don't know how I am going to press all that oil out that has coated all the petals….
I'll worry about that later I guess.
Anyhow, right now around here, it's all about the lilacs.
And that's just fine by me.
