While walking in the woods today, I came across an alder tree that was trying really hard to grow in a place that I'm afraid is a bit too shady for it. The thin trunk was leaning over into the path and at eye level, this is what I saw….
A mini ecosystem of moss, lichen and new leaves from the tree.
It's amazing to me how plants, animals, people, and I imagine, minerals in dark caves try so hard to grow. Even when conditions are not optimal. Hell, conditions may be downright hostile.
And yet we try.
There's a lesson in there somewhere….
