Upside Down Cupcake

There are so many things to be thankful for here where I live. The trees, the yard, the fields, the house, the kitchen, the garden, the location, the neighbors… I could go on and on. However. There is one thing that my house doesn't have that has actually brought me to tears a few times in the last many months… There is no bathtub. No. Bath. Tub. I need to soak in water, like some people need coffee. When I really get desperate, I go down to S.'s house where I have a standing invitation to use her tub. This is the only thing that has kept me from going bonkers at unpredictable moments. But I have not been getting my quota of soaking, thus making me unreliable in social situations. Yes, showers get you nice and clean. I get that. But I need a good soak in order to get in touch with my deeper thought processes. Ergo. I have been looking everywhere for some kind of vessel to put in my shower that I can use as a makeshift tub. My shower has a seat built into the corner, so I have a very limited area and have had the dickens of a time finding anything that will work. It can't be more than 24 by 24 inches. I finally found something that I thought was going to solve my problem. The measurements were proper. I ordered it with great anticipation. I knew I would have to cut it down for height,  but I was SURE it was going to work. The UPS guy delivered it today. It LOOKED like it was going to be okay. But after trying it out, I realized that the measurements I was counting on were at the top of this thing, not the bottom. So... Untitled.001       Rats. Anybody want a really nice, rugged, brand new, never bathed in,  garbage tub? Sigh. My search continues...

So sorry, I understand the need to soak, so does the fisherman. Especially with this excessively warm weather. So it can only be 24x24? I will put my thinking cap on.

there has to be something like some old wash tub that someone out "there in the country" has sitting outside that you could take off their hands ... you need to put the word out and I bet someone will have something "in their shed" RODL how is the garden coming? We have been away but get back home on thursday -- hopefully we'll have some eggplant!

have you seen these kind of bathtubs: http://premiercarebathing.com/walk-in-baths/compact-walk-in-tubs/oasis-walk-in-bathtub/ ? sometimes you can find such thing on ebay for less money the cheaper alternative is to find something like that: http://www.dhgate.com/wholesale/inflatable+bathtub+for+adults.html and just use it in the kitchen or so - you can take it down after use and store in a smaller space. Also: are you allowed to modify the place you live in? it maybe the easiest option is to pit up a permanent wall and tile and seal it to create a tub instead of a shower? Just few ideas to help ;-)

Dang. I'm so sorry it didn't work. I know how you pine for one. Don't give up. It's out there. Happy hunting.

Okay, this is gonna sound so crazy, but get a pool, or a blow up hot tub that you can put in the living room. I can't live without a tub either, I feel your pain! The blow up hot tubs are a little expensive, but don't limit yourself to sticking it in the shower, that's just silly. You can manage one in the living room or kitchen or outdoors even, you can add soap or not, for me it's the soak the matters most. You can make it hot or cold. I soak in my pool regularly, and am working on a wood fired heater for the winter. Yes, wood fired. Yes build it myself. Instructibles has two neat versions: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-build-a-wood-fired-hot-tub/ http://www.instructables.com/id/Wood-Burning-Pool-Heater/ So look around for what you already have, and scour craigs list for other options. I got a hot tub for free and i"m building my heater mostly out of scraps. And uh, my orchard provides wood :)

I can so relate..... often wish I had designed our bathroom to house a tub instead of the shower stall. I'm hoping we can replace the stall with one of those walk-in tubs like the one Miss Tick posted. Heaven..... or mighty close to it! :)
