In Which We Express Our Gratitude

Rain

The rain is raining all around, It falls on field and tree, It rains on the umbrellas here, And on the ships at sea.
Robert Louis Stevenson
This is our world today. Occasional wind [gusty to mildly scary], steady gentle rain most of the night. It continues as I write this.
There's nothing like a lack of something for a prolonged period to make one hyper-aware of the blessing of its return.
This weather is also conducive to indoor projects of protracted length.
I spent a good portion of my day yesterday sorting out all my yarn and knitting tools.
It was epic. I actually divested myself of a moderate bag full of golf ball sized yarn leftovers that by their very existence were gnawing at my brain like some kind of Wool Zombies. Very unpleasant creatures I can assure you. Well, I blew them out of the water. No Zombies here.
And to continue the trend, SIL and I are going to help my mom set up a file system for her paperwork today. Having seen said paperwork, I'm glad we have a three woman crew on the job. The rainy day will be The Enforcer at our backs. There's no use thinking about long walks in the woods, or tinkering in the yard. So organizing things to within an inch of their paperclips is our only option.

I love Robert's poems. I should look for a small book of them. Someday. We did good at M&D's. Very good indeed.

Happy Valentine's Day! Have strawberries and cho-co-late. You should take all your bits and pieces and make a purse of many colors, like Joseph's coat or the Dolly Parton song. (my brain does wander) But somehow I can visualize it like the shawls that use up all the leftover sock yarn. The Fisherman said that you were supposed to have a flood warning? Hugs.

I finally took to throwing my little yarn balls into a ziplock bag. When full I send it packing; sometimes to Goodwill, sometimes to an elementary teacher for "art material". But is has just occurred to me that, unlike me, you are working with wool that will felt so one thing you might keep in mind for future zombie balls is to combine them onto bigger balls, tuck in the end and then felt them into dryer balls. They are supposed to be a nice replacement for dryer sheets. I haven't tried it, so I don't know if it works, but if nothing else, I think a little basket of felted yarn balls sitting on the dryer would be cute as can be. :) http://www.diynatural.com/how-to-make-wool-dryer-balls/

The dryer balls sounds like a good idea. I bought some yarn to make them for my daughter. It is also supposed to help shorten dryer time.
