I went for a little exploration on the other side of the ice pond a few days ago. There are some small meadows over there that I'm keeping my eye on for any wildflowers that might be blooming. I didn't find anything yet, but I ran across this mullein plant that is making a run for it.
You would NOT believe how velvety soft this is to touch!
Here's a closer look...
If I were a mouse, I would live here.
Cozy.
Tonight Passover begins.
I couldn't find any kosher for Passover matzah hereabouts, so I made my own:
There's a REASON they call it "the bread of affliction". The stuff is pretty basic.
On the coop front, I have been angsting mightly about nest boxes. I tried out some milk crates my dad gave me, but the tubs I bought for liners don't quite fit. I have some leftover lumber, but it's in small lengths mostly, and I need to save some of the remaining boards for chicken ramps. I am not the best carpenter in the world, and I'm having a crisis of confidence.
However, as is my way, once I have mulled long enough, something usually comes to me. I've said a prayer for inspiration.
(Just how much inspiration does one need for something like this? I don't think chickens are all that particular about where they lay their eggs. For instance, observe this 'complex' system ….)
(What's yer problem Cupcake? Put the tubs on the floor and be done with it.)
You sir have no sense of style OR adventure.
(I'm not staying awake at night fretting over nestboxes either.)
Well, you have a point there...
Oh bother...
I'm going to go plant sweet peas and think about something else for a while.
(Good plan.)
I'm glad you approve.
