Meanwhile, In Hobbiton
Thu Jan 01 2015

When S. and I were gathering firewood last fall, we were lucky enough to find a substatial amount of really nice oak. Once it all got sawed up and ready to stack, there were quite a few odd little bits and ends leftover. We NEVER waste firewood around these parts, so I stacked my little oak ends in the barn in a special spot. Once I saw them all stacked together like that I thought to myself, that looks like a Hobbit wood pile.  And so it was dubbed, my Hobbit wood. I have been saving them and admiring them for months now. I decided to burn them on New Year's Eve, so I brought them up yesterday afternoon. There are still a few pieces left in the barn, but this was the bulk of it... Hobbit Wood2   A closer look... Hobbit Wood1 ( I do believe we have sunk to a new low in these pages. Close up pictures of wood chunks. How can this be of interest to anyone besides you and your goofy.... and that's putting it politely..... obsession with trivial matters?) Well, would it make you feel any better to see a photo of my New Year's Morning breakfast? (Oh God. Please help me.) I give you... in the spirit of the Hobbit theme.... First breakfast: First Breakfast Johnny cakes, otherwise known as fried mush. I don't know what I will be having for second breakfast. Though I'm sure something will present itself before noon. (If this is an indication of the quality of blog posts for the new year, I think I'm going to look for work elsewhere.) Well, if that's how you feel about it..... let me just help you fill out your resume' !  What color paper would you like to have it printed on? I have a nice selection on hand. (Do you have anything in the way of puce?) Puce it is.   lime-wild

Breakfast looks yummy. The wood looks absolutely lovely. I am isolated and bored, what can I say? I am looking forward to seeing what the second breakfast will be.

an application on a brownish purple or purplish brown paper will certainly get an attention ;-) thank you for pulling me out of my hibernation and for NY wishes. May your house always has a good pile of hobbit wood, just for those days when a little bit of extra warmth may be required...
