If you haven't seen Star Wars - The Force Awakens yet, because you are afraid it will be as messed up as the last three movies they made, fear not.
Go see it.
I promise, it will not break your heart.
You'll fall in love all over again.
I've seen it three times already because I'm a crazy fan girl.
The first viewing was with my brother and sister-in-law. As we were getting ready to get out of the car at the theater I was rummaging around in my purse for my ear puffs. [The sound in theaters is too loud for me and I need them]. Anyway, I discovered I only had one in my purse.
"Oh no! I said, I only have one of these!"
SIL said "Here I have one kleenex left, you can use this."
I took it from her and said, "No,I'll need this in case I have to cry."
My brother, in his most down to earth, non fan boy, brotherly voice told us emphatically...
"There's no CRYING in Star Wars!"
SIL and I cracked up laughing and disagreed with him just as emphatically!
And later, during the movie, at a particularly tense moment, one of the characters DID cry. I poked my SIL and whispered... "See, there IS crying in Star Wars."
:-)
I have a new heroine.
Rey.
All the magical things we loved about the first movie are here. Self discovery. Bitter loss. Conflict. Victory. Hope.
My favorite lines in the movie (paraphrased) are spoken by Han Solo....
"The Force, the Jedi, it's true. All of it."
Yep.
That's my man. :-)
And, just in case you are worried that it takes itself oh so seriously... forget that. There's plenty of humor to ease the tension.
But, dudes, when you go, bring your own popcorn. They want 7.50 cents for the stuff. That's insulting.
Unless you can do the Jedi mind trick and get them to give you a bag for free.
If that works for you, let me know.
Just in case I go see it for the fourth time.....
(May the Fourth be with you.)
Hey, ( ), that was almost funny!..... but you are not a Jedi yet.
