New Plant and an Old Tree
Mon Dec 23 2024

The cloudy, foggy weather continues with occasional hours of rain. Everything is soggy. It's glorious.

Today our neighbor across the field cut down a huge dead pine tree. It made such a crack and crash sound when it fell! Whoever felled it was GOOD at their job because it landed squarely between the house and their woodshed! Impressive! They built a huge bonfire with the branches. I love watching it over there. It's a sight to behold. They have a bobcat and a medium sized tractor and have almost cleaned that whole tree up! They took about three long sections somewhere on a flatbed trailer. Probably sold them to people nearby who cut them up for firewood. It's amazing what you can get done when you have the right equipment. They trim and remove trees for a living. This one just happened to be on their property.

Today I took a little jaunt out to the feed store/nursery and bought some potting soil and a planter for the Mexican Oregano my friend S. rooted for me. I kept admiring it every time I went over.

Here it is out on the chilly, wet bench in the fog a little bit ago:

I hope it likes it at my house as much as it does at hers.

Alexa just gave me a weather update with a winter weather watch. I think it's funny when she does that. It's like, 'Girl.... it's December, didn't you get the memo? There's gonna be weather!'

I don't think she understands irony.

Living in the country was fun in my younger days, and visiting the country from living in the past few years is a great joy in my life. I, too, love to a company with all their equipment to fell a tree or two. Reading your diary is fun and I enjoy coming to DD to see what you have written.
