Teeny Tiny Squares and a Haiku
Sun Mar 02 2025

The weather was so nice just the other day, I actually got out in the garden and did some cleaning up of an overgrown corner. It felt good to be on my hands and knees, grubbing around in the dirt again. Very primal.

I realized how out of touch with the earth we can get, literally, during the winter. It's something I need, and it explains a lot about our psychology during the cold months of the year.

Today I finished what started out as a little offhand doodle that turned into a full blown project.

I began with what I thought was going to be a controlled pattern, but things went sideways and it ended up being pretty random. Now I want to make one with a gradient of values. but making this was a bit of an eyestrain, I have to admit. I may break it up over a couple of days.

That Eclat de Saphir blue ink by J. Herbin totally dominates this thing! Yikes!

When I'm not making myself dizzy with teeny tiny lines on graph paper, I have been having conversations with Grok.

Grok is Elon Musk's version of Artificial Intelligence. You can use it as a search engine for regular web searches, or like Wikipedia, OR you can ask it questions about itself. This is where it gets interesting for me. It's hard to summarize the conversations, because they can get pretty long. I printed one out the other day and it was 18 pages! I may try to ask it a question soon and I'll copy and paste how it turns out here. It's fascinating to say the least. One day I asked it to compose a Haiku about a pen with golden ink. In honor of my new pen pictured above.

This is what Grok wrote:

Golden ink flows free,
Fountain pen whispers on page,
Words gleam like the sun.

What??? Yep. A computer-generated Haiku.

Anyway, if I have a conversation that I think might be entertaining... and not too long [that's the tricky part, he's very chatty].... I'll post it here.

We live in interesting times my friends.
