Spring in Winter
Mon Jan 06 2003

It’s warm here today. Well, it’s 65 degrees, that’s warm for winter don’t you think ? I have the windows open and am airing out the house. It smells so lovely . Fresh air that doesn’t freeze your bones!

This springy like weather lured me outside and I trimmed the willow tree in the front yard. Now you can walk up to it and give it a hug if you were so inclined. I personally don’t hug trees, but I do talk to them. They never talk back as far as I can tell.

After a bit, I may go for a walk before the sun goes down. Hate to waste such a day by staying indoors too much. I also took the good weather as an opportunity to give my dog Robbie ( a sheltie ) a nice bath. He is at the back door barking every now and then to remind me that I have left him outside and perhaps I had forgotten that he prefers the indoors in his golden years thank you very much. He is 13 years old and about 80% deaf, poor thing. I named him after Robert Burns. My dog’s proper name is Robert Redfur. But we mostly call him Robbie. Unless he is in trouble and I have been known to say. . . ROBERT ! in my sternest voice. He is then immediately contrite and we have to kiss and make up or he goes into a decline. He is the best dog I have ever known, and the smartest.

What’s for dinner ? I’d have an In-n-Out burger, but they aren’t kosher. Pizza ? Leftover casserole ? Peanut butter and jelly ? Don’t know, hardly care, it’s Spring in Winter and I have lost my appetite . . . can Spring Fever come on this quickly ? Don’t know, hardly care.
