Justice Delayed
Wed Mar 28 2007

Though we worked long and hard, our intrepid troop of jurors could not come to a consensus on a verdict.

This piece of art by someone called Charles Bragg pretty much sums it up:

Sometimes you just can't pull the verdict out of your hat, no matter how many times you reach your hand in there....

Blessedly, when it was all over, the judge realized our frustration and dissatisfaction and read to us from some moldy tome the value and importance of a hung jury. It was very kind of him to do so I thought.

I am recovering very slowly in true introvert style. Slept till nine in the morning and have been moving like a turtle ever since. I need to recharge my depleted batteries.
Not exactly sure HOW I'm going to do that surrounded by a neglected house and piles of bills and laundry, but I'm sure I'll muddle through.

Oh the case? It was a Driving Under the Influence charge. Two counts.

My verdict?

Not guilty, by reason of 'reasonable doubt' (brought on by very thin and shaky evidence) added to the 'presumption of innocence' precept. To whit, forthwith, without malice, but with MUCH aforethought, amen.
