Wonder Dog
Tue Aug 10 2010

The whole crew and I made our trek to Classy's house yesterday in the lovely mild weather. For those of you who don't know about Classy, here is a picture of her when she was with us. She was almost hairless from a severe flea allergy. Though the fleas were long dead, we were not at all sure if her coat would recover.

And here she is at our last visit quite some time ago:

And here, in all her glory is Classy as of yesterday:

No way!

You must be kidding!

Can't be the same dog!

Oh yes, it's her. Though I have to admit, if I had to pick her out of a dog line up, I might have been stumped, she has changed so much. I think she remembered me a little bit. She wasn't overly shy around me, and let me pet her. I think I saw some doggy wheels turning in her sweet little head.

We had a nice long visit and I left there feeling so blessed and happy.
It gives me renewed enthusiasm for taking in a new foster, whenever he or she shows up. I hope all our fosters can have such a happy ending to their stories.

Oh yes, the Hen made sure the real business of the day got taken care of, even though it is a pitiful small batch. We DO have tomatoes put up. I planted some orange varieties, so that's why we have multicolored tomatoes...

It was a good day.

A very good day indeed.

She is BEAUTIFUL now! So are the tomatoes by the way! That reminds me that I wanted to put up tomato sauce this year. I forsee the smell of cooling Roma's permeating my home in the near future.

Amazing!! If not for that unique white blaze on her nose it would be impossible to tell that is the same dog! Her recovery is nothing short of miraculous! Looks like she landed in quite a posh circumstance, as well. Lucky little Classy. Way to go little girl!!!

The tomatoes look delicious! Those will really be summer in a jar when it's deep into the cold, dark days of winter. Just imagine how luscious those will be cooked into a stew with some carrots, potatoes and onions when it's blowing a gale force and the icy rain is coming down in buckets. Comfort food at its best!

Just goes to show that a little love and care can do. You set her on the road to happy health and it's worked out just fine.

We have 2 apple trees, and between the two only 4 apples. We also have 3 pear trees with no pears, and one peach with no peaches. I'm starting to think my back yard is only good for berries and zucchini!

Some of my friends from work and facebook asked about the caramel apple butter, so I put it in dd then linked to it in Facebook. I suspect I am going to be hit up on to teach a few co-workers how to can after they read that recipe!

Do you by chance know if apple butter can successfully be frozen?
