The garden.
Yes.
For a long time it seemed, the garden was in its infancy. It's been a Peter Pan garden for a long time. It didn't seem to want to… grow up.
But then, at a certain point, prodded by forces of which I seem to have no ken… it decided to go forward toward maturity.
The kale patch is just about ready for me to start harvesting leaves. I can't wait to eat some!
The potatoes are in their full glory...
When they have started to bloom, you know that if you dig around a little bit, you will find some edible sized potatoes.
I am exercising a formidable amount of restraint in not bothering them for now. They are just too glorious right now. Potato plants look really really pretty at this stage, but when they actually get down to the business of enlarging their tubers, the plants fall over, get scraggly, and look for all the world like they are expiring. But the whole time, the 'taters are getting bigger and fatter underground. It's a mystery.
I have a few potato volunteers that came up near the crookneck squash. I think these will be the first in the pot when the time comes...
This is the first sunflower to begin opening..
A volunteer from last year.
Marigolds… with beetle.
And just in the last few days, the green beans have begun to bloom.
I spotted these tomatoes this morning. They are very early… The other plants only have blossoms.
I have PLANS for those little orbs. As soon as they turn red. :-)
